Historically Inspired

For my historically inspired piece, I wanted to do something quick and easy, but this was the opposite. I spent many class periods trying to sculpt the vase by hand, which ended up lumpy and short. In the end, I threw on some underglaze and tossed it in the slop bucket. If I had done this again, I would have waited until I knew how to work a pottery wheel.

Pinch Pot

This piece was very exploratory. I basically just made whatever came to mind. I tried textures, glaze, and a lid. He is a little sloppy, but I think he came out cute, and I'm very happy with his scaly texture.

Pinch Pot 2

Plan

For this pich pot, I just made a basic dish, which I painted little flowers inside. This piece was very simple and not very time-consuming. It was one of the first pieces I ever glazed, but in the end, it came out well. If I did it again, I think I would spend more time on the flowers and make the piece more intricate.

I just wanted a bowl, so I just made a rough bowl, and I wanted white and blue. Not much of a plan.

Mini Master piece Tile

Analasis

I loved this piece. I chose to do Claude Monet's water lilies. I loved painting all the little details and not having to worry too much about perfection. The only thing I would change if I could would be making the lily pads darker; they feel a bit too bright compared to the water.

Small animal sculpture

Analasis

This cat gave me a run for my money. When I sculpted it, I didn't know what I wanted, so I just kept adding random things, such as the scarf. I really don't think the scarf fits anymore and feels too cartoony. I also accidentally coated him in clay dust that wouldn't budge, so he looks dirty and patchy after glazing.

Plan

I knew I wanted to paint lily pads, and I had my reference chosen. I knew I wanted there to be lots of highlights in the water and fr the flowers to be very large.

Plan

I found this darling fat cat sculpture on Pinterest and decided I needed one. The original did not have a scarf, nor was it painted. Since I was doing a cat, I thought I would paint it to look like my cat, who is very skinny and black. Many of he choices I made on this piece were disappointing.

Pinch Pot 3

Analasis

I wasn't sure what to do with this piece thus I simply made a pinch pot, took a photo, and rolled it into a ball to wedge again.

Plan

I needed a pinch pot, so I tried the best I could.
